They both looked at each other and then back at him.”And where might you aqquire this ‘steak’ “Roscoe asked.”Last time I checked, you are poorer than dirt”Desoto sneered.

“Well I was thinking if maybe you guys let me go. I’ll go get the stake and bring it right back here to this very spot. Hows that sound?” he said gaining his cool composure back.

They both laughed.”Like we’d let you go .”They said at the same time.”How ‘bout this, you can come over to HQ and have some steak there.You’ll just owe us one..”Roscoe said, grinning darkly

Dodge acted like he was thinking about it for a moment “Well I could do that or I could just…WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!” he yelled and pointed behind the two dogs, faking fear.

Roscoe turned around to see what it was,but Desoto remained still.”Nice try..Mutt..”He snarled.

Dodger rolled his eyes “Man! I thought I could get you with that, it worked in that movie” he sighed. “Okay, okay Roscoe, Desoto. You’ll have that steak I owe you by the end of the week. Okay?” 

Desoto snorted,”And you thought we’d fall for that?” He barked.Roscoe looked proud victorious.”Okay then, good.”

“Well ya brother here fell for it” he chuckled. “Guess we know who the brains of the out fit is” he said pointing at Desoto.

Desoto was about to thank Dodger for the compliment, but Roscoe growled.He lunged for Dodger, his teeth barred.


Dodger flintched back but tried his best to reamian calm “Hey, whoa Roscoe baby. I was just about to say you are the brawn, and here ya are proving it” he grinned.

Roscoe swiped at the terrier’s face, still glaring at him.”Really now? You were? I couldn’t tell…”He snarled.

Dodger yelp as Roscoes paw came across his face. “Yep…” he said weakly. “You’re good looking too” he whined.

Roscoe snorted, and started to walk away.Desoto glanced at Dodger, before following his brother.He glanced back at Dodger,”Forget about the steak…It’s free” He whispered loud enough for only Dodger to hear.And with that, Desoto chased after his brother.

Dodger looked on as the two dogs walked away and was shocked to hear Desoto being nice to him. Why had he done that? Was he getting soft? Either way it brought a weak smile to his face as he stood up and walked back slowly to where he lived.
